Zephaniah 3:17
“The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Right now my tears seem to come along with my singing. The song below is an old one but has been running through my head a lot lately. I asked you to pray for smooth roads ahead, yet God has seen fit to put us on a detour with lots of potholes. The good news is Dave passed all the test to get on the new drug Crizotinib. When trying to get into a clinical trial there are always lots of requirements and the places in the trial fill up fast.
One of the detours we had to take was changing 3 of Dave’s medicine so that they would work with Crizotinib. His pain meds were the biggest change. He seems to have stored up lots of pain meds in his system as we changed over, now his pain is the least of his problems. We have stop giving him anything until we work out what is going on.
He once again swelled up with liquid in his middle section. Dave had 3 liters removed today. , yesterday they put 2 liters of fluid into his system. Dave is dehydrated and has not eaten anything in about 4 or 5 days. Pray that we can come up with a way to rebuild his strength and get him eating and drinking again. The new meds do not have a chance to prove themselves if we cannot get Dave back up in weight and hydration.
I am so grateful that Heather lives with us and helped me take Dave to the doctor yesterday. Nathan came home yesterday for a long weekend. Becky, Jim and Kaylee will be here for a few days next week. The support of our kids means so much to Dave and I.
There are so many other things that Dave and I are thankful for, all of you who pray for, encourage, and financial support us. God is using you in wonderful ways to bless us. We do not know where this detour will end, after we get out of the potholes. What we do know is the LORD our God is here in our midst, the Mighty One, will save us. He will rejoice over us with gladness, He will quiet us with His love, He will rejoice over us with singing.
Thanks for continuing to keep us before the throne of God with your prayers.
Leah
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.Refrain
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand. When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.Refrain
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.Refrain
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.Refrain

With God’s help we continue to build memories.

Philippians 3:13 “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
I am sure many of you who are praying are wondering how things are going in the Preston house. Dave is holding his own and eating and drinking some, when one of us remind him to do so.
My goal has always been to keep our eyes focused on God, build lots of memories and work hard not to have any regrets. We are enjoying time with family now. Nathan came on Thursday when Dave was at his lowest. Nathan will come back later in the week or next weekend depending on how Dave is doing. I sent Josh an airplane ticket and he flew in this afternoon. Nathan picked him up at the airport so they had some time together before Nathan left. Josh will be here until Tuesday afternoon. Becky, Jim and Kaylee will arrive tomorrow and will stay for a few days. Heather is taking this week off from work so she will be around a lot. It is wonderful to have a nurse in the family.
Then next weekend if she can make arrangements Dave’s sister Gloria hopes to come and visit.
Dave’s and my favorite times together are when we have our devotions twice a day. We are 210 days into reading the Bible again this year. Then when we find time during the day on our own I continue to read books to him. I have always loved reading and now I can read hours every day and not feel guilty.
Please continue to pray for us as we wait on the LORD, thanking HIM every day that we have Dave with us. We do not know if the clinical trial that Dave is on will make a difference or not. What we do know is our hope is in the LORD, “We press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Ken’s poem below is a great example on how we can ask why, yet the only answer we need is faith to see God holding us.
We can feel your prayers. Please keep praying.

When Asking Why
893
There may be times when I will say
It seems like God is far away,
but how I feel, won’t change the fact
that God, His love, will not retract.
It’s in those times that I must stop,
and tell myself, ”God is on top.”
Nothing is here beyond His will,
so I must rest and peace be still.
Though on my knees to Him I cry,
I need not know the reason why.
I need to hear, when times are rough,
His gentle words,” grace is enough!”
He promised He is here to stay,
so He won’t turn or run away.
He’s fitting me to what He’s planed,
and I must not reject His hand.
God is at work, though I don’t see,
His loving hand, that’s holding me.
As I embrace His love for me,
the eyes of faith will help me see.
