The trip to Honduras will be later this summer. We go to the town of Guaimaca where there is a very nice facility–hospital, dorm for us and kitchen/dining room. The facilities are so much nicer than what we had to deal with in Mexico. The hospital is part of Baptist Medical Dental Ministries, Int’l’s ministries in Central America and elsewhere. It is a beautiful facility that has a full-time doctor, but no surgeon, so we (and other teams) spend time down there making surgery available to people who would otherwise have to wait for the social system. I’ve been going with this group for about 35 years. We used to go only to Mexico, but when that door closed, Honduras opened up. We have also gone to Romania, and (not me, but the group) Cuba, North Viet Nam, and Guatemala.
My oldest son, Mark, will be 50 this summer! He’s an air traffic controller at Ft. Riley. He and his wife Mindy have a three-year-old! His daughter just got married in England to a Brit (so she’ll be staying there). He has an older son (sister to his daughter; both by his ex). Gordon still flies the business jets for Cessna. He has two kids by his ex; he and his current wife have been married for several years. He stays very busy; flies all over the States and the world.
