Outlier “A Promise to Hold”

Today I learn a few new words. (outlier and genome) Dave had a CT scan yesterday and today we saw his doctor. Dave’s tumors are about the same or a little bigger so it is time to stop the chemo Dave is on and look for an alternative. Today I learned that I am married to an outlier, he is not normal, 95% of the people who were told 18 months ago that they had the same kind of pancreatic cancer as Dave are no longer walking the earth. God is good and Dave is very much alive.
John 16:33 (NIV)
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Dave and I both have colds right now so pray that we get over them quickly. I am sure that Dave not having chemo for a while will help him build back his strength.
The next step of Dave’s cancer treatment is a biopsy to find out the genome of his tumor. His doctor will get back in touch with us in a week or two. The good part is his tumors are still small, the bad side is it may be hard to take samples. Pray for wisdom for the doctor and the team as they find out about Dave’s tumor. The next step after that is to find a clinical trial that would match Dave’s needs. Lord willing we will be able to have the treatment here in NC.
On the fun side of life, we went and visited Jim, Becky and Kaylee in Florida last week. We deliver a crib from our neighbor as well as the toy box we had made for Kaylee. We were blessed by taking Kaylee over to the Wycliffe Center and visited with friends there. Yes, we are proud grandparents.
Dave and I continue to create wood projects in our garage. Building memories together.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Joyfully, Leah and Dave
A Promise to Hold
798As I wait for grace to slowly unfold.
I have a promise to which I can hold.
The LORD has promised to finish His task
to bring His glory, wherein I may bask. It’s not a sprint but a slow steady pace
that assures my soul that God’s in this place
guiding, directing, and changing my life,
so I can stand firm through the coming strife. This transformation, though slow it is sure,
to give me the strength each day to endure.
Though hardships may try, they will not undo
the hope of God’s love, which God called me to.It’s not easy but, with God at my side
Revealing His truth wherein I may hide.
I will continue and I will not fall,
as long as I seek God’s heavenly call. This unfinished promise I know is true
‘cause God did the things He said He would do.
As sure as God’s Love was poured out on me,
I know that God’s grace will set my soul free.© Ken Doorenbos 3/19/2016
