“Having LOVED his own who were in the world, He now                                                                                                                              showed them the FULL EXTENT of His LOVE” John 13:1

Dear friends,

Last Sunday was the first Sunday of February. The sermon was from John 13:1-17. The ‘full extent’ of Jesus’ love for me was not only made clear by the washing of the disciples’ feet, but also being the first Sunday of the month, we celebrated the Lord’s Supper together.

What a Celebration: What a celebration of the FULL EXTENT OF GOD’S LOVE! The fullness of Christ’s love for me was shown by Jesus washing the dirty feet of His disciples, including Judas and Peter. The extent of His Love was also shown by the feet of Jesus being pierced on the cross for me. “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Jn. 3:16 The Full Extent of His love is for a lost world and also for me. That is WW&M LOVE. The Whole World and Me.

A 5 and a l dollar Bill: While pondering the Full Extent of God’s Love for me, I drove to Newton to have some father / son time with our son Chuck. Here is the story:

Chuck and I have been getting together in his office about once a week. There is always a good cup of hot Ethiopian coffee brewing. There is also a donut shop just down the street. After picking up a half dozen donuts, I went to pay the $5.21. The young women behind the counter, with tatoos all over her arms, watched patiently as I rifled through my pockets and my wallet. Empty. “Do you take plastic?” I asked. “I’m sorry, we only take cash or checks,” she said. “Can I take the donuts and come right back with the money from my son who works just down the street?” I asked. She cocked her head and smiled and didn’t say a thing. The men sitting in the donut shop were all watching me as I walked out.

I got the money, went back, and paid the 5 dollars and 21 cents. As I was walking out with the donuts, on the floor in front of the door was a five dollar bill and a one dollar bill. I picked the two bills up and turned around and asked the men who were still looking at me, “Did any of you lose this money?” None of them had. I returned the money to the young women still still standing at the counter. “Maybe I will keep the money for myself,” she said. “Thank you for being so honest.”

Back at my son’s office, we all had a good laugh at God’s sense of humor and the Extent of His Love for us. Because of His great love for us, He forgives all our debts (sins), small and great.

Be debt free! Be encouraged! Be Blessed! Be Loved!       Together in His Service, The Haspels
